Crotone's president is acting on his previously stated interested in nomadic striker Mario Balotelli, calling the player's agent over a potential move this summer.

Raffaele Vrenna announced in May that Crotone would be willing to give Balotelli the captain's armband. The Calabrese outfit only recently sealed promotion to Serie A for the first time but that isn't stopping Vrenna from tempting the 25-year-old.

"I made a phone call to agent Mino Raiola for Balotelli. Crotone are the ideal environment for young talent to grow and express themselves," Vrenna told La GazzaMercato, according to Sky Sports' Peter Gilbert. "We could be the right place to revive an incredible talent like that of Balotelli, who has unfortunately just experienced a couple of difficult seasons."

Balotelli returned to Liverpool earlier this week following an unsuccessful loan spell at AC Milan, where he managed to score just a single goal in 20 Serie A appearances. A nagging groin injury interrupted his campaign, but he was unable to convince the Rossoneri of signing him for a second time.

With a year remaining on his Liverpool contract, Balotelli can also count Sampdoria among his suitors.

He's currently on Merseyside to take part in preseason training at the club's Melwood ground.
