Report: Zabaleta set for Roma switch
Manchester City full-back Pablo Zabaleta is reportedly set to make the switch from the Premier League to Serie A, with Roma closing in on the Argentine veteran's signature according to ESPN FC.
Roma is reportedly set to complete a £2.5-million deal for the 31-year-old, who is now in the final 12 months of his contract with Manchester City.
While Zabaleta said he'd be open to a move when his contract expires, he likely won't find more playing time in Roma; replaced by Bacary Sagna at Manchester City, Zabaleta would need to compete for a starting role with Italian wing-back Alessandro Florenzi, who proved himself a vital piece in the capital-based team last season, making 42 appearances and scoring eight goals.
Zabaleta made just 13 Premier League appearances last season under Manuel Pellegrini but has been a mainstay for Manchester City over the last eight years, winning two league titles, two League Cups and an FA Cup.
