AC Milan signs Montolivo, Antonelli, Calabria to contract extensions
In news that will likely be met with chagrin by AC Milan supporters, the club announced Tuesday that languid midfielder Riccardo Montolivo has extended his contract through the 2018-19 season.
He was joined in putting pen to paper by left-back Luca Antonelli and 19-year-old right-back Davide Calabria.
Montolivo, the club captain who has been derided for a season rife with turgid performances, made 31 Serie A appearances this past campaign, and barring injury is expected to earn a spot on Antonio Conte's Italy squad for Euro 2016.
Should he see out his extended deal, he will remain with Milan until the age of 34.
Antonelli, a solid yet unspectacular full-back, made 28 league appearances for the fallen Italian giant this season, while Calabria was involved in six Serie A matches, closing out his campaign by playing all 120 minutes of the extra time loss to Juventus in Saturday's Coppa Italia final.
