According to the report, doctors feel the ear can be saved after detecting circulation and growth in the reattached area of his ear. His agent Scott Boras had this to say.

"It's looking like the surgery will be successful. The primary focus is on saving the ear"

Dodgers prospect Alex Guerrero loses part of ear in dugout scuffle, may miss 5 weeks

May 20, 10:32 PM

The most bizarre story of teammates fighting to come along in a long time may end up having long-term repercussions for one of the combatants.

Los Angeles Dodgers Triple-A affiliate Albuquerque Isotopes teammates Alex Guerrero and Miguel Olivo got into a scuffle on Tuesday night, leaving Guerrero reportedly missing part of his ear.

Salt Lake Bees blog Sting 'Em Bees broke down the build up to the altercation.

It goes like this…….The Isotopes defense had their struggles against our base runners. If I were managing my Comp team I would call it laziness…. The Bees advanced runners multiple times because after plays were seemingly over, Isotopes players would wander away from their base and our Bees runners would advance with very little opposition.

A couple times the runners advanced with the ball in C Miguel Olivo’s hand. I got the feeling he was upset that no one was talking to let him know there was a runner, and when they DID scream “runner!”, no one was at the bag to cover a play. …. That is certainly a cluster of plays that got under the skin of Olivo.

After the tussle, Guerrero can be seen holding a towel to the side of his head.

Prior to the bench brawl, Guerrero and Olivo had to be separated by teammates during a mound meeting.

Messing with Olivo is a famously dangerous decision, as former teammate Brian Bannister attested to on twitter.

Guerrero's agent, Scott Boras, claimed that Guerrero walked away from the mix-up without part of his ear, and immediately underwent plastic surgery in an attempt to repair the damage.

He could miss five weeks due to the injury, according to ESPN

Both players were removed from the game, and could reportedly be facing further discipline from the team.

Dodgers GM Ned Colletti wasn't ready to say what caused the event, but made it clear it was unacceptable.

"We don't condone it, and we don't think it's constructive," Colletti said to reporters at Citi Field. "People can have disagreements. When it gets beyond that level, it's over the limit."

Report: Alex Guerrero has part of ear bitten off by Miguel Olivo

May 20, 6:54 PM

Not since Holyfield vs Tyson has news of an ear being bitten off in a fight made headlines. Alex Guerrero and Miguel Olivo did their best to re-enact that altercation at Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, according to Jon Morosi.

Seriously.

Agent Scott Boras told Morosi that part of Guerrero's ear was "displaced by a bite" during an altercation with Olivo. Dodgers GM Ned Colletti confirmed that Guerrero and Olivo were involved in an altercation, making this too-bizarre-to-be-real incident incredibly true.

Guerrero is undergoing plastic surgery to repair his ear, according to Boras. He went on to say that police have gathered evidence regarding the incident, and that Guerrero's return timetable is uncertain.

Any Dodgers fans still clinging to the idea that Yasiel Puig is negatively impacting the dressing room now have to consider that he has not yet been accused of biting any of his teammates.
