While Monday morning's news of a ruptured ligament in Rory McIlroy's left ankle will have many ready to write off the world's top-ranked golfer in the upcoming Open Championship, oddsmakers aren't ready to cast him aside just yet.

A close look at the top of the board at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook shows McIlroy still firmly entrenched among the favorites.

After opening as a 5-1 co-favorite alongside Jordan Spieth, McIlroy had moved into the position of solo favorite in updated odds released by the Las Vegas sportsbook late Sunday.

In the wake of Monday morning's injury announcement, McIlroy's odds came down to 8-1, with Spieth taking over as the betting favorite at 9-2.

Here's a look at a timeline of how the odds have shaken down for the first four names on the betting board at the SuperBook.

Player Odds 6/22 Odds 7/5 Odds 7/6
Rory McIlroy 5-1 5-1 8-1
Jordan Spieth 5-1 6-1 9-2
Dustin Johnson 15-1 15-1 12-1
Justin Rose 20-1 20-1 15-1

The 144th Open Championship will be held July 16 to 19 at the Old Course at St Andrews Golf Club in Fife, Scotland. McIlroy, the defending Open champion, overcame a second-round 80 to finish at 8-under par and in a tie for third the last time The Open was played at St Andrews in 2010.
