BMW Championship Round 2: Molinari affirms lead; Byeong-Hun An climbing
The second round of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth began Friday with Francesco Molinari in the lead, and it ended that way, too.
After going 7-under par in Thursday's opening round, Molinari's second round was not as clean, as he bogeyed two of the first three holes. However, those would be his only hiccups of the day, as he drained five birdies to finish 3 under. He now sits at 10-under 134.
Byeong-Hun An had an impressive round, jumping 21 spots by dropping eight birdies to put himself 8-under par and in solid position heading into Saturday's third round. He currently sits one shot behind Molinari at 9-under 135.
Top-ranked Rory McIlroy had a disappointing Round 2 with six bogeys and a double-bogey, putting him five shots over the cut line. McIlroy now eyes a return home for the Irish Open next week.
Shot of The Day
Shot of the day honors go to Marc Warren for his 15th hole chip. Warren's shot, from the edge of a bunker, careened down the green's slope to find its way home for a bird.
