After six second-place finishes in his career, Kevin Chappell finally broke through to claim his first PGA Tour title at the Valero Texas Open.

Chappell shot a 4-under-par 68 in the final round to finish at 12-under for the tournament and hold off Brooks Koepka by one stroke.

"I'm just excited I don't have to answer that question on what I have to do to win again," Chappell told CBS. "Obviously, there's some excitement and some frustration and a lot of joy right now."

The 30-year-old was tied with Koepka at the par-5 18th, but after hitting his third shot to within eight feet, Chappell poured in the putt for the victory.

"I was really calm all day. I know it's very cliche, we all say that when we get it done," Chappell said. "But, I was calm and never freaked out. You know, playing the last it was simple, make four and you win the golf tournament."

Koepka, who's been playing solid golf of late, had the lowest round of the day, making eight birdies and one bogey, to post a 65.

Tony Finau bogeyed his final hole to shoot a 69 and fall back into a tie for third place with Kevin Tway, who also carded a 3-under.

The win for Chappell earned him $1.1 million, a two-year exemption on tour, an invite to the 2018 Masters, and some sweet cowboy boots.
