Spieth: 'Felt like we were playing a different tournament'

Back-to-back, wire-to-wire, and history every step of the way for Justin Thomas this week.

Thomas cruised to a seven-shot victory to the Sony Open, a performance that left his comrades in awe.

"It felt like we were just playing a different tournament," said Jordan Spieth after his round of 63 that vaulted him into a third-place finish. "I honestly felt I was trying to win the tournament for second place. Pretty unbelievable what he's doing right now, he's got full control of his game, full confidence, and he's executing under pressure."

The 23-year-old is just now becoming a household name to many golf fans with his impressive game, but Spieth sees more more than just a player with a hot hand.

"He's already been there, he's just gone through the process, he's succeeded at the highest level at each level," Spieth said. "When you get out onto the big tour sometimes it takes a little bit of time to win or win in bunches. I wouldn't say a good player that's hot and I wouldn't say it's the birth of a guy either. I'd just say it's a tremendous player that is at that level."

Spieth himself knows from experience, as it took him a couple of years to grab his second Tour victory, after claiming his first in 2013.

"Once that happened, it kind of came in bunches," he said. "It's just how it works sometimes, and JT has it rolling now and he's going to be a tough guy to stop this year."
