Tiger Woods is alive. And, apparently, ready to golf.

That was the sentiment shared Sunday as he practiced and tested equipment in advance of the Hero World Challenge, at least.

"I'm not dead," he quipped, per Bob Harig of ESPN.

In fact, Woods' emotions are running high as he prepares for his first tournament since the Wyndham Championship in August, 2015.

"I'm nervous for every tournament I play in, whether it's after a layoff, or six in a row, or a major," he said. "I care. If I care, I'm nervous. And it's good to be that way. To have that nervous energy and channel it into aggression, into focus, concentration, that's good stuff. If I wasn't nervous, that would mean I didn't care. I don't want to be out there flat."

Since his last round of professional golf, Woods - a 14-time major champion - has slipped to 879th in the world rankings.

The Hero World Challenge is an event hosted by Woods for the benefit of the Tiger Woods Foundation and features 18 top-ranked golfers.

All eyes will be on him as host and participant, but Woods says he's fully ready to go.
