USOC denies suspending Lochte; will decide after Rio 2016

Despite reports to the contrary, Ryan Lochte and his three teammates haven't yet been issued suspensions by the U.S. Olympic Committee for their roles in the scandal stemming from a Sunday incident at a Rio gas station.

USOC chief external affairs officer Patrick Sandusky denied a CNN report on Friday that claimed Lochte would be suspended by the USOC and U.S. Swimming for fabricating a story about the swim team being robbed during the early-morning encounter.

"(The) report by CNN that (the) USOC has made decisions regarding swim team are false," Sandusky tweeted Friday. "We won't address (it) until we get back to (the) USA. Focus is on (the) team here."

The IOC has set up a disciplinary commission to investigate the four swimmers' actions, according to Steve Wilson of The Associated Press.

Lochte arrived back in the U.S. before Brazilian authorities could question him. Teammates Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger were taken off their flight home and questioned by police Wednesday, while James Feigen also remained in Brazil and gave an account that differed from Lochte's story.
