Muhammad Ali's name lives on in the Olympic boxing ring, but the man bearing the legendary moniker couldn't do it justice.

A 20-year-old flyweight from Great Britain sharing the name of boxing's most influential figure dropped every round on every card in his Rio 2016 debut on Monday, losing to Venezuela's Yoel Finol 3-0 in their preliminary bout in the men's 52 kg class.

"I was just itching to finally get in there, and when I did, I tried too hard and nothing was working," Ali told reporters after the match, according to Greg Beacham of The Associated Press.

The silver medalist at the 2015 European Amateur Boxing Championships failed to rally, despite chants of his name from the Brazilian crowd.
