Rio officials closed the Olympic diving pool Friday as they try to identify a solution after the water turned green on the second day of competition.

Although officials claimed the discoloration posed no risk to athletes, some have complained the water irritated their eyes:

Rio officials initially claimed the discoloration was caused by a proliferation of algae.

A day after the diving pool turned green, the polo pool - which is located at the same venue - also began to change color.

Meanwhile, one unidentified German diver claims there's also a foul odor inside the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre:

A decision has yet to be announced as to whether scheduled events, slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. local time, will start on time.
