Andrew Bogut hasn't been subtle about his displeasure with the lodging in Rio's Olympic Village, but he wants the host nation to know that he doesn't blame them for the lackluster facilities.

His beef, rather, is with the International Olympic Committee.

"The comments were never to disparage Brazil or the people of Brazil," Bogut clarified Saturday, according to USA Today's Sam Amick.

Those comments, conveyed through Twitter, included Bogut complaining about having to put together his own shower curtain so his room didn't flood, and having to sleep standing up because he couldn't fit in the single bed he was provided. His tweets have typically been accompanied by the hashtag #IOCLuxuryLodging.

"I have very good friends that are Brazilian," he said, citing former Golden State Warriors teammates Leandro Barbosa and Anderson Varejao. "It was more (meant for) the IOC than it was anybody."

Bogut, who led Australia to an upset win over France on Saturday, said organizers are looking to make some upgrades to the facilities, though they still aren't likely to compare to the luxury cruise ship the U.S. team is staying on.

"They're trying to get things right (in the athletes' rooms)," he explained. "Like I said, I apologize to the people of Brazil. I never intended that to be a shot at them, it's more a shot at the IOC to get out of the penthouse suites they’re staying in and get things rolling a bit better."
