Kyrie Irving has his sights set on capturing his first Olympic gold medal with USA Basketball in Rio. Off the court, though, he's hoping to meet a specific fellow Olympian.

Asked ahead of practice Friday whom he wants to take a selfie with, the reigning NBA champion replied: "Michael Phelps is definitely on my list," according to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports.

Irving recently watched an ESPN special detailing the swimmer's life, which only added to his respect for him. The video shed light on the 18-time gold medalist going to rehab after his second DUI arrest and repairing his relationship with his father.

"I had no idea (what Phelps has been through in recent years)," the Cleveland Cavaliers point guard said. "And to know what he was battling up against, and to (see) that the platform he's still on as arguably the best swimmer ever, I'm excited to meet him.

"I'm excited to ask him questions, and really just pick his brain about that greatness which he's been striving for for years. Obviously you can see I'm very excited to meet Michael Phelps."

Irving may not have time to ask all those questions at the opening ceremony, though, as U.S. flag bearer Phelps will reportedly leave the event early.

Here's hoping they can at least take that selfie.
