Larkin becomes 1st Red Wings rookie to score 20 goals since Zetterberg

Rick Osentoski / USA TODAY Sports

Dylan Larkin is on the path to greatness.

The 19-year-old collected his 20th goal of the season against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, making him the first Detroit Red Wings rookie to reach the milestone since Henrik Zetterberg achieved the feat during the 2002-03 campaign.

Larkin should exceed Zetterberg's rookie output of 22 goals and 44 points, baring injury or a severe downturn in production.

The goal also helped to snap Larkin's seven-game goalless and pointless skid. Despite the drought, he remains tied for second in rookie goals with Buffalo Sabres forward Jack Eichel.
