DETROIT - The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame announced Tuesday night that Ben Wallace will be a part of its next class.

Wallace, a four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, helped the Detroit Pistons win the 2004 NBA title.

He will be inducted Sept. 9 along with former Detroit Red Wings Brendan Shanahan and Chris Osgood.

The class also includes former University of Detroit and Detroit Pistons standout John Long, former Detroit Lion Robert ''Bob'' Mann, former Flint Powers High School basketball coach Kathy McGee, Oakland University swimming coach Pete Hovland, and baseball writer Tom Gage.

Former New York Yankees star Derek Jeter and Hockey Hall of Famer Mike Modano, both of whom are from Michigan, will be honored after being unable to attend their induction ceremony last year.
