With 23 points in has past 24 games, Jack Eichel entered Sunday's game against the Colorado Avalanche just one point behind Dylan Larkin for second among rookies, and the Buffalo Sabres forward didn't need much time to tie him.

The 19-year-old started with the puck in his own zone and dangled through the neutral zone before using a screen to snap his 17th goal of the season past Semyon Varlamov to give his team a 1-0 just over two minutes in.

Evander Kane doubled the lead less that three minutes later, ending Varlamov's night before he stopped a single shot.
