Canucks' Edler to miss 6 weeks with fractured fibula

Marilyn Indahl / USA Today

Vancouver Canucks defender Alex Edler will miss six weeks with a fractured fibula, the team announced Friday.

The highest-paid member of Vancouver's blue line suffered the injury in Tuesday's win over the Colorado Avalanche.

His six-week timeline puts him on track to return with less than a month left in the regular season - an injury that could potentially alter management's plans in the lead up to the trade deadline.

Canucks center Brandon Sutter suffered a broken jaw on the same night, and will miss at 6-8 weeks.
