Calgary Flames star Johnny Gaudreau issued an apology with fellow disciplined forwards Sean Monahan and Lance Bouma after being held out of the lineup Tuesday versus the Toronto Maple Leafs for showing up late to practice the morning after the Super Bowl.

"We want to apologize to the organization, the coaches, our team especially, and the city of Calgary and the fans," Gaudreau said, according to Wes Gilbertson of Postmedia.

"I think the best apology for us three is come out against San Jose and have our best game of the season," he added.

Monahan and Bouma echoed a similar message.

"The other day, we made a mistake and that’s the first and last time that’s going to happen," Monahan said.

Unlike Monahan and Gaudreau, Bouma will not have a chance to expiate on the ice Thursday versus the San Jose Sharks. Because while Monahan and Gaudreau took rushes on the first unit with Jiri Hudler, Bouma rotated with the extra group at practice Wednesday.
