The Canucks have sent two impact players back to Vancouver with significant injuries.

Alexander Edler has suffered a fibula fracture and Brandon Sutter a broken jaw Tuesday night in Colorado, the team has confirmed.

Neither have a timetable for return.

Edler, the Canucks' leading scorer among defensemen, has been relatively healthy this year, but has missed a fair amount of time in each of his last two seasons.

Sutter has already missed 33 games in his first season with the Canucks. His mother, however, traveling with the rest of the Canucks moms, will remain with the team.

The injuries leave the Canucks, who have just recently had Henrik Sedin and Dan Hamhuis return to the lineup, further shorthanded in the lead-up, and perhaps beyond the trade deadline.
