Analysis:

It's been a trying season for Girgensons, who has just 11 points in 45 games this year. After scoring a career-high 30 points the previous season, big things were expected from the Latvian two-way center, but with the additions of Ryan O'Reilly, Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart, Girgensons has seen his role diminish, especially on the offensive side of the puck. Given his injury woes this season and subpar production, Girgensons is waiver-wire fodder until he shows some improvement, which will likely come next season.
