Sidney Crosby tops NHL's 3 stars with 8-point week

An incredible few games from Sidney Crosby has earned him a spot atop the NHL's three stars of the week, the league announced Monday.

Crosby extended his point streak to 10 games with the help a four-point performance against the Senators on Tuesday and a three-point outing against the Panthers on Saturday. The 28-year-old has scored a goal in six straight, and became the 13th active player to reach the 900-point milestone.

The Pittsburgh Penguins captain leads Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson and Florida Panthers forward Vincent Trocheck, who earned second and third star honors, respectively.

Karlsson extended his own point streak to four games with seven assists across three contests last week including a four-point performance in a blowout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. The 25-year-old now sits tied for second in scoring with 59 points, still 17 less than Patrick Kane.

Finally, Trocheck helped the Panthers remain atop the Atlantic Division with six points in three games. The 22-year-old has already surpassed career-highs in goals, assists, and points this season.
