Boston Bruins prospect Malcolm Subban will be spending the night in a Portland, Maine-area hospital after suffering an injury while warming up prior to an AHL game on Saturday.

Subban took a puck to the throat and was transported to hospital by ambulance prior to puck drop, but the exact nature and extent of the injury isn't known, Bruce Cassidy, coach of the AHL's Providence Bruins, told Mark Divver of The Providence Journal.

Subban has appeared in 27 games for the minor-league club this season, with a 14-8-5 record and a .911 save percentage.

He has made one appearance at the NHL level since being drafted 24th overall in 2012.
