Roberto Luongo did not go to Florida to fade into the sunset.

The Panthers goaltender made 35 saves in a 6-3 win over Detroit, earning his 23rd win of the season and moved up the NHL's all-time wins list in the process.

At age 36, Luongo is arguably playing the best hockey of his career, with a save percentage of .930 through 40 appearances. His performance, coupled with the Panthers' somewhat surprising rise to the top of the Atlantic Division, has put him firmly in the Vezina Trophy conversation.

Luongo now sits 13 wins behind Jacques Plante for sixth on the NHL's wins list.
