Bruins' Gustavsson cleared to return to lineup

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Bruins received some good news Thursday, as goaltender Jonas Gustavsson was activated off injured reserve after being cleared to return to the team.

Malcolm Subban was reassigned to the AHL's Providence Bruins in a corresponding move.

Gustavsson left in the first period of a game on Jan. 26 against the Anaheim Ducks after experiencing an elevated heart rate.

The 31-year-old has a history of cardiac issues, having previously underwent procedures to deal with irregular heartbeats.

In 15 games this season, he has a 9-3-1 record with a 2.38 GAA and .915 save percentage.
