Canucks' Prust, Flames' Raymond clear waivers, assigned to AHL

Vancouver Canucks forward Brandon Prust and Calgary Flames forward Mason Raymond both went unclaimed on waivers, and will be assigned to the AHL.

Prust has struggled with just seven points in 35 games this season, and Canucks general manager Jim Benning admitted his skating hasn't been up to par since undergoing ankle surgery in the offseason. The 31-year-old, now heading to Utica, is making $2.5 million this season.

Raymond, meanwhile, has been assigned to Stockton. The 30-year-old has just four goals and an assist in 29 games this season.

Two other players on Canadian teams were placed on waivers Wednesday as Edmonton Oilers forward Luke Gazdic and Winnipeg Jets forward Matt Halischuk are now available to be claimed as both teams are looking to activate other players from the injured reserve.
