McElhinney (ankle) is traveling with the Blue Jackets on their current road trip and was briefly on the ice towards the end of Monday's practice, The Columbus Dispatch reports.

Analysis:

There was no firm timetable given for his recovery when McElhinney was placed on IR at the beginning of January, but while rookie Joonas Korpisalo has been playing well, the Jackets would like to get McElhinney back into action sooner rather than later due to Sergei Bobrovsky's ongoing groin issues.
