Corey Perry wasn't going to stay silent for too long.
After being held without a goal through the first 11 games of the season, the Anaheim Ducks star winger scored his 20th during the first period of Tuesday's game against the Boston Bruins - his 47th appearance - continuing a run of remarkable consistency throughout his career.
Here's a few fun facts regarding Perry's goal-scoring prowess:
- Perry appeared in all 82 games in only one of the seasons in which he failed to hit the 20-goal mark (17 goals in 2006-07), recording 13 in 56 games as a rookie and 15 in 44 games during the lockout-shortened 2013 campaign.
- Among all active players, Perry ranks ninth in goals per game, with some incredibly impressive names coming in ahead of him.
Player | Career Goals Per Game |
---|---|
Alex Ovechkin | 0.625 |
Steven Stamkos | 0.548 |
Sidney Crosby | 0.473 |
Jaromir Jagr | 0.462 |
Evgeni Malkin | 0.459 |
Rick Nash | 0.43 |
Jarome Iginla | 0.417 |
Marian Gaborik | 0.413 |
Corey Perry | 0.41 |
Marian Hossa | 0.405 |
- Since the beginning of the 2010-11 season, only Ovechkin and Stamkos have scored more than Perry's 198 goals.

- Perry's 20 goals give him twice as many as the next member of the goal-starved Ducks, with Rickard Rakell and Ryan Kesler both having scored 10 to date.
- Heading into Tuesday's contest, the Ducks had recorded only 95 goals through 46 games, 10 fewer than the 29th-ranked Philadelphia Flyers.
- Perry, however, is on pace for 35, which would be the fourth-highest single-season total of his career.
