Canucks' Higgins to be waived after not drawing interest on trade market

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

Chris Higgins' future could be in the American Hockey League.

The Vancouver Canucks and the winger are working together to find a trade suitor for the 32-year-old, but that search has apparently come up empty.

President Trevor Linden was interviewed on Sportsnet on Monday night, and openly discussed Higgins' future:

There are no hard feelings between player and club, but it appears Higgins is likely done in Vancouver. He'll be headed for Utica should he clear waivers Wednesday.

Higgins has two goals and an assist in 25 games, and is making $2.5 million. He's under contract for one more season at that amount.
