Seth Jones admits Jackets' defensive scheme will require learning curve

Two days after his blockbuster trade from Nashville, Seth Jones finally knows what it's really like to be a member of the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets.

Jones logged the third-most minutes among defensemen, firing one shot on goal and taking a minus-2 rating in his Columbus debut, a 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Though his debut will come with less fanfare than that of Ryan Johansen, who tallied two points in his debut with the Predators, Jones was solid. He did, however, admit that implementing his game into John Tortorella's defensive scheme presents a challenge.

"Yeah, it's going to be an adjustment," Jones said, according to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch. "I tried to just played. (Ryan Murray) was telling me where to go."

Jones will have ample time to assimilate. He played almost two minutes more than his season average in his Columbus debut, and is soon expected to inherit a top-pairing role.
