Logan Couture is out through Christmas.

The San Jose Sharks' scoring center will not travel on the team's five-game road trip, which ends just before the NHL's holiday hiatus, coach Pete DeBoer said Sunday, according to CSN's Kevin Kurz.

Couture underwent surgery Thursday to remedy small arterial bleeding discovered in his right thigh.

His injury, the result of a blunt-force, Charley horse-like trauma, occurred in his second game back after missing 23 with a broken leg.

The 26-year-old has appeared in just five games this season.
