Panthers' Bjugstad hits IR, putting road trip in doubt

The Florida Panthers are set to hit the road without Nick Bjugstad.

The center, out indefinitely with an upper-body injury, was placed on injured reserve Friday, the club announced.

Bjugstad has seven goals and five assists in 23 games. It's been a mostly disappointing season so far, especially considering he set career highs across the board in 2014-15.

Beginning Saturday afternoon in Boston, the Panthers are on the road to play four straight, a date with the Carolina Hurricanes on Dec. 18 their final one before returning home. It's possible Bjugstad will miss the entire trip.

In other Panthers injury news, defenseman Steven Kampfer had an MRI for what is believed to be a knee injury, according to the Miami Herald's George Richards, and he won't play versus the Bruins. Kampfer's status for Tuesday's game in Brooklyn is unknown. Florida has called up defenseman Dylan Olsen on an emergency basis.

Lastly, Brian Campbell, on the wrong end of a nasty hit Thursday, didn't break his nose after being blasted from behind. He did suffer lacerations, but is stitched up, and expected to be in the lineup Saturday.
