Bob Stanton / USA Today

The San Jose Sharks dropped a 4-3 decision in overtime to the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night, but they may have suffered an even bigger loss.

Center Logan Couture sustained a lower-body injury in just his second game since returning from a fractured right fibula. The previous ailment kept Couture out for 23 games until he returned to play Tuesday against the Calgary Flames.

Sharks head coach Pete DeBoer confirmed after the game that Couture had suffered the injury, but offered no additional information on how long it might keep the 26-year-old on the shelf.

In five games this season, Couture has record just a pair of assists and no goals. He has 139 goals and 290 points over 383 career games in seven seasons with San Jose.
