Head coach John Tortorella was not happy with a penalty Hartnell took in Tuesday's loss to the Canadiens, and was also not pleased with Hartnell's play of late, so he decided to give him the night off Friday. Tortorella did not say whether he would hold Hartnell out of any further games, but Hartnell's status warrants monitoring until he is back on his coach's good side. Hartnell will look to snap a four-game scoreless streak next time he takes the ice.
