Kennedy has signed a one-year, two-way contract valued at $600,000 for the NHL level, Rich Chere of The Star-Ledger reports.

Analysis:

Kennedy, who has largely been a part-time player in the NHL, reportedly will bank $200,000 if he ends up in the AHL. The Devils evidently felt like he was worth taking a chance on after bringing him aboard on a professional tryout contract Nov. 18. He has 199 points in 477 career games with the Penguins, Islanders and Sharks.
