Canadiens rally to edge Devils in a shootout

The Montreal Canadiens overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat the New Jersey Devils 3-2 in a shootout Friday.

Alex Galchenyuk and Sven Andrighetto scored in regulation before each found the back of the net again in the shootout to lead the Canadiens to victory. Montreal remains atop the NHL standings with 38 points, improving its impressive record to 18-4-2.

Andrighetto put the Canadiens on the board with his second goal in three games since being recalled from St. John's before netting the eventual shootout winner. Galchenyuk was solid as well, tying the game with a fantastic individual effort late in the third period.

Mike Condon made 25 saves and stopped four of five shootout attempts for the win. He improves to 8-2-2 with a 2.14 GAA and .917 save percentage on the season.

Cory Schneider was spectacular at the other end, making 25 saves highlighted by an incredible desperation glove save to rob Tomas Plekanec of a goal.

Devils forward Adam Henrique scored his 11th goal of the season, while Lee Stempniak continues his impressive year with a power-play goal. New Jersey falls to 11-9-2 with the loss.

The two teams with face off again in Montreal for the second half of a home-and-home on Saturday night.
