The goal was originally credited to David Legwand who was believed to have tipped the puck past Cam Ward, but it was overturned after it was deemed not to be the case.

The goal was Gorges' first as a member of the Sabres with his last goal coming on Oct. 12, 2013 when he was a member of the Montreal Canadiens.
