Goal-deprived Flyers call up Cousins from AHL

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Flyers' scoring woes aren't going away, so they will turn to their AHL affiliate's leading point-getter to boost the offense.

Nick Cousins was recalled from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the team announced Friday. The 22-year-old forward is currently tied for seventh in the AHL with 18 points, and led the Phantoms last season with 56 points in 64 games.

The 2011 third-round pick made his NHL debut last season, but was held pointless in 11 games. The Flyers will hope he can spur some offense this time around, as they haven't scored an even-strength goal since Nov. 17 against the Los Angeles Kings.

In a corresponding move, forward Taylor Leier was reassigned to Lehigh Valley.
