Canadiens' Semin placed on IR, out at least a week

Montreal Canadiens forward Alexander Semin (lower body) has been placed on injured reserve and will miss at least one week, head coach Michael Therrien told NHL.com on Thursday.

Analysis:

Christian Thomas has been recalled from AHL St. John's as a move that directly corresponds to Semin's placement on injured reserve. Semin is a talented player with 517 career points (239 goals, 278 assists) but his point totals have been doing a tailspin since tallying 54 points in 2011-12, his last season with the Capitals. He has just four points in 15 games with Montreal this campaign and his low 12:20 TOI/G is a key limiting factor for the Russian.
