Stars' Lehtonen hits IR

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Stars placed goaltender Kari Lehtonen on injured reserve Thursday, retroactive to Nov. 24, the club announced.

Lehtonen was hurt Tuesday night after defenseman John Klingberg collided with him, and the Stars said Wednesday he was day to day. The injury is a bit more serious than that, it seems, and goaltender Jack Campbell's been recalled from the AHL's Texas Stars.

Lehtonen's been very good this season. He's 9-1 with a .921 save percentage for the first-place Stars. Antti Niemi will take over as the man in the crease while Lehtonen's out, and that could mean trouble for Dallas. While Niemi is 8-4, his .907 save percentage leaves a lot to be desired.

Joining Campbell on the trip to the big club is defenseman Patrik Nemeth, who had one assist in eight minor-league games during a two-week conditioning assignment.
