Hurricanes' Gerbe placed on IR, expected to miss 4-6 weeks

The Carolina Hurricanes placed forward Nathan Gerbe on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, and he's expected to miss four-to-six weeks, general manager Ron Francis announced Tuesday.

Gerbe left Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Kings after taking a hard hit into the boards from Kyle Clifford during the first period.

The 28-year-old has just three points in 20 games this season.
