Flames expect Russell to play Tuesday

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

The Calgary Flames expect to have defenseman Kris Russell on their blue line Tuesday against the Anaheim Ducks, head coach Bob Hartley said on Monday.

Russell played only six minutes Friday against the Chicago Blackhawks after sustaining an upper-body injury in the first period. He was seen favoring his hand after blocking a shot, and never returned.

Russell's averaging over 23 minutes a night, so he's a key contributor on Calgary's defense. The 28-year-old has a goal and three assists in 21 games this year. He set career highs in points (34), and assists (30) last season.
