Bryan Rust resumed skating Friday, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Rust (arm) resumed skating Friday, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Analysis:

Friday marked the first time Rust has skated since suffering a right hand or wrist injury on Oct. 24. He was also able to do some puck handling while on the ice Friday, which is a great sign given the nature of his ailment. The 23-year-old winger is now three weeks into the "couple week" recovery timetable he was given on Oct. 27. He will need to return to several full practices before drawing back into the Penguins' lineup, but it appears as though Rust's return to game action is on the horizon.
