Domi, Doan team up for game-winning goal

The future appears to be closer than initially thought for the Arizona Coyotes, but the franchise's career leader in games played is still hanging tough.

The story early on for the desert dogs has been the play of rookie forwards Max Domi and Anthony Duclair, both of whom have infused the team with youthful exuberance, not to mention goals and wins.

It was the former who set up veteran Shane Doan for the game-winning goal Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers, giving him his fourth of the season in his 1,410th game with the club.

And it was a pretty play to boot.

With the goal, Doan sits seven back of Dale Hawerchuk for the franchise lead, meaning Domi and Duclair have a ways to go yet before matching their captain.

The win improved the Coyotes' record to a surprising 9-6-1, putting them atop the Pacific Division for the time being.
