While Sidney Crosby and Jonathan Toews are all but confirmed to lead Team Canada at the World Cup of Hockey in September, some unlikely players could find themselves rounding out the roster.

General manager Doug Armstrong said Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher, Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone, as well as forward Tyler Toffoli and defenseman Jake Muzzin of the Los Angeles Kings have worked their way on Team Canada's radar.

Gallagher has six goals and eight assists in 16 games this season. The 23-year-old was named an alternate captain for Montreal earlier in the year, and has excelled since recording three goals and three assists when he last represented Canada at the World Juniors in 2011-12.

After recording 26 goals and 38 assists in 2014-15, Stone has three goals and 11 assists through the first 14 games this season. Stone, like Gallagher, last represented Canada at the World Juniors in 2011-12, finishing second in the tournament with seven goals and 10 points.

Toffoli broke out last season with 23 goals in 76 games, and he's showing it was no fluke. The 23-year-old sits second in the league with nine goals in 14 games. He scored two goals and added three assists when he represented Canada at the World Championships in April.

Muzzin has become a key defender for the Kings next to star Drew Doughty. The 26-year-old has one goal and six assists in 14 games this season, and recorded eight assists for Team Canada at this year's World Championships.
