Senators' Stone to have hearing Monday for hit on Red Wings' Ferraro

Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Monday for his hit to the head of Detroit Red Wings forward Landon Ferraro.

The hearing will reportedly be conducted over the phone, according to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun.

Stone caught Ferraro with his shoulder Saturday, leaving Ferraro shaken up on the ice. Stone received a two-minute minor for the hit while Ferraro went to the dressing room, but returned shortly after.

The incident is a departure from Stone's usual playing style as the 23-year-old has only 30 penalty minutes in 114 career games.
