Los Angeles Kings forward Jeff Carter can thank teammate Drew Doughty for his thrilling overtime goal against the Nashville Predators.

Doughty broke up a 2-on-1 rush with a nifty lift of his stick before setting Carter up on a breakaway with under 20 seconds remaining in the extra period.

Carter then showed extreme patience, out-waiting goaltender Pekka Rinne before lifting a wrister over the down-and-out netminder for his fourth goal of the campaign.

The goal helped the Kings capture their seventh straight win and hoisted them into top spot in the Pacific Division.

Forward Tyler Toffoli continued his quest to wreak havoc on opposing goaltenders, notching two more goals Saturday, bringing his season total to nine. Meanwhile, Quick improved to 6-3-0 on the season, stopping 31 of 34 shots.
