Palat scores winner as Lightning beat Jets in OT

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Winnipeg Jets to clinch their fifth win of the season thanks to one Ondrej scoring on another.

Ondrej Palat finished a tic-tac-toe play with Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman, sliding the puck past Ondrej Pavelec to give the Lightning a 4-3 overtime win.

Ben Bishop made 33 saves to pick up his fifth win of the season, but it wasn't without trouble as his third-period gaffe behind the net allowed Blake Wheeler to tie the game.

Lightning head coach Jon Cooper was happy with the way his team responded.

"(Bishop) has bailed us out so many times," Cooper said. "It's about time we bailed him out. And that's what we did."

The Lightning will take their momentum to the Windy City where they'll face the Chicago Blackhawks for the first time since bowing out of the Stanley Cup Finals in June.
