Brayden Schenn: It's 'brutal' to see brother Luke scratched by Flyers

Blood runs thicker than water, even in professional hockey.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Brayden Schenn is off to a solid start this season, recording two goals and an assist in four games. At the same time, however, he's witnessing the benching of his brother, Luke Schenn, making it rather difficult to enjoy the early success.

"It's brutal," Brayden said Monday. "It's no fun for me going to the rink and it's no fun for him. When you play on the same team as your brother, you want to be in the lineup with him each night."

Luke played in the Flyers' first two games, recording one shot and a minus-four rating. He sat out the past two contests - Philadelphia wins - and is expected to remain out of the lineup for Tuesday's meeting with the Dallas Stars.

The hope, for brother Brayden at least, is he'll be back on the ice sooner than later.

"He's doing everything he can to stay ready for when his chance comes again," Brayden said. "He works hard. Whenever his opportunity comes, I know he'll make the most of it."
