Jets' Wheeler '100 percent' after taking puck to head in practice

The Winnipeg Jets are breathing a sigh of relief.

Winger Blake Wheeler stepped onto the ice for the morning skate in advance of Saturday's tilt with the Arizona Coyotes seemingly no worse for wear after taking a puck to the head off the stick of Dustin Byfuglien a day earlier.

Perhaps most importantly, Wheeler won't miss any time as a result of the scary incident.

"He's 100 percent," declared head coach Paul Maurice. "That's what he tells us, and that's what the doctors say."

"(Byfuglien's) been shooting at my head for five years," Wheeler joked after the skate. "Luckily it hit me in a spot with a lot of bone. As long as I don't get hit in the same spot, it should be good."

Wheeler, who was skating alongside Andrew Ladd and Bryan Little on the Jets' top line, sits in a tie for the sixth-most points in the NHL after recording eight goals and 13 assists in 20 games.
